Description

The Triple Divide Ranch is used as an example to demonstrate the functionality of the Huntable online hunter management system associated with the Montana Hunter Advancement Program. This is only an example... the data and information listed illustrates the kinds of information and data which landowners may include in their MHAP listings and the information which MHAP certified hunters will have available on properties enrolled in the MHAP.

Sample Description:

Reservations and written permission required. Call (406) 444-1888. Permission slips issued from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. the day prior to hunting or between 6:00 a.m and 8:00 a.m. the day of hunting. All hunters must sign in by 8:00 am or lose their slot for the day. No reservations taken before 1 August.

The Triple Divide Ranch is located in the heart of some of Montana’s very best mule deer country…Hunting Unit 441

The first two weeks of the season is a general season for antlered mule deer. (October 20-Nov 4, 2018)

The last two weeks antlered mule deer are by permit only: Unit 441 (Nov 5-Nov 25)

Either sex whitetail deer are open all season long.

Elk are by permit only in this unit on the ranch.

See hunting regulations as the seasons on the National Forest and Bob Marshall Wilderness are different than the seasons on private land.

Certified Hunters may access the National Forest and Bob Marshall Wilderness lands west of the Triple Divide Ranch. Hunters accessing the National Forest or Bob Marshall Wilderness may park/camp at the Johnson’s Crossing Parking area or the North Fork Dupuyer Creek Parking/Camping area. Both parking areas are designated on the ranch map.

GRIZZLY BEARS ARE PRESENT ON THE TRIPLE DIVIDE RANCH AND SURROUNDING AREAS.
BEAR SPRAY IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL HUNTERS AND VISITORS ON THE RANCH.

    Parking is allowed in designated areas only. Walk-in hunting ONLY from designated parking areas. Parking areas are identified on the ranch map (see photo section for ranch map).

    The ranch safety zone is located around the ranch buildings and the conservation education center. This area is clearly marked on the ranch map.
  • Known Dangers / Areas to Avoid:
    Grizzly bears are present on the ranch property. Hunter need to be aware of bears and carry bear spray.

  • Other Considerations:
    Deer and elk carcasses must be removed from the field as soon as possible due to the presence of grizzly bears on the ranch. The "gutless" method of field dressing deer or elk may NOT be used on the ranch. Field dressing remains may be left in the field, but the ranch manager must be notified of the kill site prior to hunter(s) leaving the property.
